Annapurna Devi -the context ,not just a religious story
Ask yourself what would be the essential needs of a kid to become the best version of himself and you'll come up with education and health. We, humans, are such a funny creature that we don't care about the core issues of a thing but will surely try to deal with the symptoms that are more rigid and hard to deal with. In this ever-developing society, We often disregard the position of a woman as a housewife and as a mother also don't respect her for whatever she does just because she is not making money. With that in mind, I am not attaching any gender's role to this work but as we biologically know a kid remains attached to his mother's womb before he/she enters the world so he/she can be dealt in a better manner by Her.
Now A person doesn't have to cut the trees or carry loads to earn a living a laptop and wifi would do so the physical barrier is now descending but with just because a person isn't contributing by earning doesn't mean by any means that they are inferior because they are devoting more to the society by keeping the love and care and giving their children an anxiety-free childhood. There is a hike in domestic violence during the lockdown that makes it more clear that there is a huge need for our society to change the perspective by which we look at a woman, and its a man's duty to make sure her woman is respected and not beaten up.
We often judge a woman who is devoted to her kids, making her feel useless and worthless just because she is not earning, because we don't consider money as the fuel we all just want to facilitate ourselves without even understanding what is our real need about emotions, A mother who feels low about herself can't nourish a kid emotionally and a person who doesn't know much about love and humanity will gain intellect will just develop another weapon to disturb humanity, We are surely living a life with better facilities than how our ancestors lived but are we really emotionally satisfied? are we really feeling the importance of love and care amongst each other?
Well, we often read the holy and ancient stories and misunderstand the context of it so I would like to share a little story that is really a beautiful way to represent that woman in every aspect is very precious and beautiful.
So, We know that the union between Shiva and Parvati was a glorious one, They maintain the equilibrium between thoughts and action, The static part of everything is shiva and the dynamics are provided by Parvati(Shakti). Parvati was the agent of growth, energy, and transformation of Earth and without her, Shiva will merely be a detached observer and would remain static. But together their divine combination is also known as Ardhanarishvara which brought fertility and connection to all living things, For this reason, Parvati is worshipped far and wide as the mother of the natural world and the essential counterpart to Shiva's powers of raw creation. She oversaw humanity's material comforts the way your mother kept the balance of your home and the comforts of everyone and ensure that every family member should remain attached to each other the way Parvati kept the Earth's inhabitants emotionally and spiritually.
Continuing the story, Even though the bond was so divine yet a rift grew between these two formidable forces and While Parvati sustained daily life with care and control Shiva had begun to belittle her wife's essential work and insisted on quarreling about their roles in the universe. He believed that Bramha, who is considered as the creator of the world, had conceived the material plane pure for his own fancy. And therefore, all material things were merely distractions called Maya- nothing but a cosmic illusion. For millennia Parvati had merely smiled unknowingly as Shiva dismissed the things she nurtured. But upon his latest rebuke, she knew she had to prove the importance of her work once and for all, She took a flight from the world, withdrawing her half of the cosmic energy that kept the Earth turning. At her disappearance, a sudden, terrifying, and all-encompassing scarcity enveloped the world in eerie silence. Without Parvati, the land became dry and barren. Rivers shrank and crops shriveled in the fields. Hunger descended on humanity, Parents struggled to console their starving children while their own stomachs rumbled with nothing to eat, people no longer gathered over heaping bowls of rice but withdrew and shrank from the darkening world. To this shock and awe, Shiva also felt the profound emptiness left by his wife's absence. Despite His supreme power, He too realized that HE was not immune to the need for sustenance. and His yearning felt bottomless and unbearable. As Shiva despaired over the desolate Earth, He came to realize that the material world could not be so easily dismissed. At her husband's epiphany, the compassionate Parvati could no longer stand by and watch her devotees wasting away To walk among them and store their health, she took the form of a new avatar, carrying a golden bowl of porridge and armed with a jewel-encrusted ladle. As word of this hopeful figure spread, she was worshipped as Annapurna the Goddess of food.
With the arrival of Annapurna, the world blossomed anew. She opened her kitchen to fulfill the belly of the people until they could eat no more. But it wasn't about only the people but Shiva himself approached the goddess with an empty bowl and begged for food and forgiveness.
For this very reason, the supreme deity is sometimes portrayed as a poor beggar at the mercy of Annapurna, who holds her golden bowl, with this story this made clear that the there is a significant important of everything even the material things are also a part of life that must be properly sustained to maintain the equilibrium of the earth.
Empowering someone doesn't only imply that their work should be changed but they must be respected for whatever they do because life has much bigger dimensions than what you make out of it, maybe we are the last generation to have our mother close to us who made us an emotional creature to feel the essence of life but I fear that isn't there in the upcoming generations, And hence they use external resources to keep themselves satisfied, you always don't have to reshape something in order to make them powerful or influential just change the perspective what you have about them and they can do wonders.
